Christian Lacroix | Brand Presentation
In this presentation we showcase the history and main achievements of the brand founded by Christian Lacroix in 1987.
“THE WORLD NEEDS SOME EXCITEMENT FROM FASHION” Christian Lacroix
HISTORY Christian Lacroix is one of France’s most famous Houte Couture designers. He studied Museum curation at the Sorbonne and at L’École du Louvre. At that time was influenced by18th Century history and art. In 1987 he opened his own haute couture house in partnership with Mr. Arnault and in 1989 opened boutiques in Paris, Japan, London and Geneva. At a time when fashion was focused on simplicity, Christian Lacroix chose mix and match. When black became the standard, he opted for blood red, fuchsia pink and bright yellow. With each new collection, Christian Lacroix designed pieces that combined unique materials and colours, adorning looks with luxurious baroque touches. He brought back folklore, history and theatre, infusing them with elegance, sophistication and craftsmanship. His un-mistakable style of mixed, vibrant colour patterns, experimental fabrics and historical references are still the core creative thread running through the brands designs and it’s continuously evolving contemporary style.

FASHION For autumn/winter 2020, Blanche has merged the clean lines and functionality of Scandinavian minimalism with the grandeur and glamour of French maximalism, after taking inspiration from the vast print archive of Christian Lacroix. Blanche used a selection of six colourful and luminous patterns, which they mixed and reinterpreted into a capsule collection that the brand states aims to translate the “sentiments of haute couture into a range of ready-to-wear styles”. The 20-piece capsule collection features, denim jeans, dresses and jackets, staples of Blanche, which were seen in playful, laser-printed iterations alongside multi-printed floral dresses, jersey, knitwear, coats and suiting, which the brand explained was a homage to the heritage and print design tradition of Christian Lacroix, while also staying true to its ideals of feminine simplicity. Blanche presents autumn/winter 2020 collection at Copenhagen Fashion Week Mette Fredin, creative director of Blanche, said in the show notes: “Being a Scandinavian denim brand at heart, we’re incredibly excited to be able to work with an international Haute Couture fashion house as impactful and historic as Christian Lacroix. “The result of our collaboration is a collection that joins together high fashion and casual womenswear, and mixes chic and urban in a shared expression that we’re immensely proud of.” Nicolas Topiol, chief executive officer of Christian Lacroix, added: “We are very excited to partner with Blanche and bring to the fashion world a combination of both of our creative aspirations, which, albeit different in 07. 08. approach, are resulting in a fresh, dynamic and beautiful fashion-forward capsule collection.” https://app.retriever-info.com/pdf/viewer.html?file=https%3A%2F…Dtrue%26sessionId%3D9a0d5779-8f1c-4fc9-81e0-ce4dce4b9e9a#page=1 Side 1 af 2 https://fashionunited.uk/news/fashion/cphfw-aw20-blanche-presents-collaboration-with-christian-lacroix/2020020547351 Side 1 af 2 1.
